ALTANUM
P.G.I. Calabria Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Protected Geographical Indication
Our ALTANUM extra virgin olive oil is named after the ancient name of San Giorgio Morgeto, the municipality in Reggio Calabria where the Olearia San Giorgio and the Fazari brothers' farms are located.
This town, now a charming medieval-origin village, was once a famous castle and even earlier, a fortress in Calabria.
Our Altanum extra virgin is extracted from five olive varieties: Ottobratica, Carolea, Sinopolese, Roggianella, and Ciciarello. It reveals an excellent blend with light medium fruity taste, green in color with yellow reflections.
OLEARIA SAN GIORGIO
Sensory Profile
Upon olfactory examination, it shows a distinct note of field herbs, white apple, and tomato leaf. The taste is harmonious and complex, revealing a medium note of bitterness and a more pronounced spiciness.
Other aromatic notes perceived are of citrus and exotic fruits. Tasty and engaging overall, it shows its best on raw and blanched stockfish proposed in salads and on roasted and stewed swordfish.
It also enhances the flavor of pizzas and crustaceans excellently.
